U Sushi

Overview

If youโ€™ve been searching for a sushi spot that combines fresh ingredients with a welcoming vibe, U Sushi on 200 Tuckerton Rd suite 8, Medford, NJ 08055, United States, is a place worth checking out. From the moment you walk in, you notice how thoughtfully the space is designed-bright lighting, clean tables, and a friendly staff that makes you feel at home. On a recent visit, I was struck by the effortless flow of service, where the waitstaff balanced attentiveness with giving diners space to enjoy their meals, something not every restaurant gets right.

The menu at U Sushi is extensive yet carefully curated. Thereโ€™s something for everyone, whether youโ€™re craving classic rolls or looking to try creative specialty rolls. On my first visit, I decided to start with the spicy tuna roll and ended up ordering a few of their signature rolls, including the dragon roll, which had a perfect balance of flavors-fresh fish, a hint of sweetness from the eel sauce, and just the right crunch from tempura bits. It reminded me of why sushi isnโ€™t just food; itโ€™s an experience that combines texture, flavor, and presentation.

One thing that stood out was the quality of ingredients. The fish was clearly fresh, which is critical when judging a sushi place. According to research from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the freshness of seafood directly impacts not only taste but also safety, and itโ€™s evident that U Sushi prioritizes sourcing their seafood responsibly. Their attention to detail extends to the rice, which was seasoned perfectly, sticky but light, holding the rolls together without overpowering the fish.

U Sushi doesnโ€™t just excel in food quality; the location itself makes it convenient for both locals and travelers. Nestled in Medford, NJ, itโ€™s easy to access and has ample parking, which is often overlooked in many sushi restaurants. During peak hours, I noticed that families, couples, and groups of friends all seemed comfortable, a testament to the spaceโ€™s versatility. Many reviews online echo this sentiment, highlighting the friendly staff and consistent quality.

Watching the chefs at work is another highlight. Their process is precise yet fluid. One evening, I observed a chef carefully slicing tuna into uniform pieces while simultaneously preparing a rainbow roll for another table. This combination of skill and multitasking reflects years of experience, similar to what youโ€™d find in highly rated sushi bars in larger cities. For anyone new to sushi, the staff is always happy to offer guidance, explaining which rolls are lighter or spicier, or how to pair items with dipping sauces.

The beverage selection complements the food nicely, with a variety of sake, teas, and soft drinks. Pairing a light sake with a salmon avocado roll enhanced the flavors subtly, something I learned after experimenting with pairings on previous visits. Studies in gastronomy suggest that mindful pairing of drinks and dishes can significantly enhance the dining experience, and U Sushi seems to intuitively understand this principle.

Even with such strong points, U Sushi acknowledges areas for improvement. During busy weekend nights, seating can take a bit longer than expected, but the staff manages it efficiently by keeping guests informed and comfortable. This transparency builds trust, and the restaurantโ€™s commitment to consistently high-quality meals remains evident.

Whether youโ€™re stopping by for a quick lunch or settling in for a full dinner, U Sushi delivers an experience that feels personal and authentic. From the meticulous preparation of each roll to the approachable and knowledgeable service, itโ€™s clear why this spot has garnered positive attention in Medford. If youโ€™re exploring sushi options in New Jersey, this location offers a combination of freshness, creativity, and hospitality that keeps diners coming back.

U Sushi is truly leagues above all the other sushi & Japanese restaurants. This and their Mount Laurel location are the only places we frequently dine at. The sushi is really the freshest, most flavorful, best presentation around not even a competition. And their other Asian cuisine is always excellent and portioned very generously.

Food is stellar. You can't buy a smile out of any of the waitress staff.... They need to get new servers. If the food wasn't so damn good - we wouldn't come there - service is adequate - but the waitresses always seem like they just don't want to be there.

We always eat here when we visit my parents. We've never had the sushi, but it looks delicious made fresh to order. We ordered Chinese dishes like shrimp and broccoli, fried rice (which they have many varities), and chicken and broccoli. These meals come with Miso soup & house salad, which are both so good. We love the salad the dressing!!! This is a smaller restaurant, but we've never had difficulty getting a table. The food is served pretty quickly. The wait staff are so friendly & nice! We always have a wonderful time eating and visiting together. The prices are fair & portions are decent, but not overwhelming. We love U Sushi!! Highly Recommend!!!

Best sashimi in the Medford/Tabernacle area hands down. Service is excellent. Hibachi dishes are great. Hot and sour soup is the best I've had. Highly recommend.

Heard many things about USushi so I gave it a try. Place was quiet, and not many tables taken so we were sat right away. They had a lot of take out going on. The waitstaff was fast and courteous. The food was good. The spicy kani salad very tasty as well as the beef negimaki. The dragon balls appetizer was good and unique. Both rolls were very good and the presentation was beyond good.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at U Sushi, and I must say that my experience was absolutely delightful. My family decided to drop by at the end of the day after a day at Six Flags just when they were about to close, and the staff graciously accommodated us with a warm welcome and impeccable service. As a vegetarian, I often struggle to find sushi places that offer a diverse and satisfying selection of vegetarian options. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of vegetarian sushi rolls and dishes on their menu. They also spent great amount of detail on presentation and it was just as beautiful to see as delicious it was to eat.

The food was fresh and delicious. The cleanliness of the bathrooms was dreadful. Both my wife and I worried, 'this is where the chef's wash their hands'.

Amazing lunch specials at U Sushi! We had an array of sushi rolls, general tso chicken, a bento box and a BBQ squid appetizer. Everything was fresh and delicious.
